In 1999 I was privileged to attend a conference on Northrop Frye in Hoh-Hot, Inner Mongolia. Later, my Chinese colleague Professor Wang Ning and I edited a volume of the papers given there. This was published in English in China, and later the University of Toronto Press brought out a revised edition in Canada. In the Epilogue to the volume, reproduced here with the permission of University of Toronto Press, I discuss the possible reasons for this unexpected Chinese enthusiasm for the thought of Northrop Frye, and the interesting cross-cultural dialogue it occasioned.
